This will show you how to operate MacMath and avoid errors. If you use MacMath a lot, do not forget it is shareware. Send all shareware payments to the address below. Make checks out to Diamond Software.
This document will show you how to use the program. If you still cannot use a function, send E-mail on America Online to Josh 78. Otherwise, send suggestions, complaints, compliments, and problems to the address below. I prefer you send them directly to Diamond Software. PLEASE send all compliments, complaints, and bugs to me, no matter how small. If it bugs you, don't put up with it. And if you complain about it, I will try to fix it as soon as possible. If you have a compliment about something, I could use it.You don't get much thanks when writing programs! If you have ideas for how I could improve MacMath, send it. You may see what you want. In summary, send anything you want to tell me about the program.

Macintosh Mathematics II is a breakthrough in affordable mathematics. Usually, shareware programs relating to math are education things, with no real applications in life (unless you consider finding out how long it will take E. T. to get home real life). MacMath can handle many sorts of problems that you solve every day. Area, Volume, basic arithmetic... And then there are some more specialized functions, like Amortization, Compound interest, and Metric converters. Here are some key things about Macintosh Mathematics.
•MacMath now has a greatly improved interface. You now feel like it is a Mac program, not something ported from another computer.
•MacMath can perform many kinds of mathematical functions. Everything from Addition, to Percent of Increase and Decrease, to Amortization and metric conversion.
•All of this functionality fits into a small ammount of disk space, and 350K of RAM. This means it will run on all Macintoshes from the Plus and up.
•It requires System 4.2 to run, and is System 7 compatible (including System 7.1).
•All of this functionality, for a small shareware fee of $15. Once the fee has been paid, you will receive free updates to the program. Only when a version is not released (probably when it will be outdated soon) will you not recieve an update. You will also receive a manual when there are major program changes.

SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS
To make a choice of which function to use, select it from the menus at the top of the screen. The program will now ask you for your information, or variables.
In some parts, there are safeguards to protect you from entering information which is impossible to compute, like division by zero. Some safeguards had to be omitted when MacMath's interface was rewritten. In MacMath II, there is an alert that will appear and (hopefully) save you from a crash by letting you quit or continue using the program.
ADDITION
The addition function of MacMath has gotten a much needed improvement. Now you are able to specify the amount of numbers you need to add, instead of adding two and having to repeat the process over and over.
SUBTRACTION
Subtraction in MacMath will ask you for a beginning number and then the amount of numbers. The amount of numbers in this case will be the total amount of numbers excluding the beginning number. Enter only one number at a time.
MULTIPLICATION
Multiplication is similar in function to the Addition module. You give it a number of numbers to multiply and then supply the numbers, one by one.
DIVISION
Division also works like it's counterpart, subtraction. You give the beginning number, the number of other numbers, and then all of the other numbers.
PERIMETER
The perimeter function will ask you for the length and width. Give these values and it will find the perimeter of a rectangle.
CIRCUMFERENCE
Give the radius, and it will determine the circumference of a circle using the approximation 3.14 for π.
RECTANGLE AREA
This will compute the area of a rectangle from it's length and width.
CIRCLE AREA
This will give the area of a circle using π as 3.14. Give the radius.
TRIANGLE AREA
This will now give the area of any triangle, provided you know the length of the three sides.
PRISM AREA
This will give the area of a hollow prism (no top or bottom area). You will need the perimeter of the bottom and the height of the prism.
CONE AREA
This will give the area of a hollow cone (no bottom area). All you need is the height and the radius of the bottom.
SPHERE AREA
This module will give the area of a sphere. All you need is the radius of it.
CUBE VOLUME
This gives you the volume of a prism. Just give the height, depth, and width.
SPHERE VOLUME
This module will give the volume of a sphere. Give the radius.
CYLINDER VOLUME
Gives the volume of a cylinder. Give the radius and height.
CONE VOLUME
Gives the volume of a cone. Once again, give the radius and height.
PYRAMID VOLUME
Gives the volume of a pyramid. Give the height and the base area.
SAVINGS
This nifty little function gives the price of an item, with sales tax and a price reduction (X%) included. If you do not have any sales tax in your area, type a zero when it asks for it. You can also just figure out sales tax only by placing a zero in the percent saved edit field. Note: You do not have to type “0.0825” for 8.25%. Just type 8.25 or whatever.
SIMPLE INTEREST
This will calculate simple interest. Just give the percentage rate, original amount, and time.
COMPOUND INTEREST
This will give compound interest. Give the capital, the percentage of annual interest, and the number of years invested.
AMORTIZATION
This will send amortization files to a new text file, to the clipboard, or to a printer. It is also now able to print to a laser printer, dot matrix printer, and (though not tested) on inkjets. For best results, print text files in a monospaced font, such as courier or monaco. If you want, you can also calculate payments and total ammounts on screen, to toy around with the variables. You will need the interest, loan amount, and term (in months).
PERCENT OF INCREASE
This will figure out the amount of increase from an original amount to another amount.
PERCENT OF DECREASE
This will figure out the amount of decrease from an original amount to another amount.
EXPONENTS
This will give the exponent's value (A to the X power).
SQUARE ROOTS
This gives the square root of a number you enter.
AVERAGING
This will give the average of a series of numbers. You give it the number of numbers you need to average, and then you fill them all in, one by one.
ALL METRIC CONVERTERS
This applies to all of the metric converters on the “Metric” menu.
To operate the converters, select the conversion you wish to be done from the menu and then give the amount of whatever it is. The function will then give you the answer.
